Breaking Down the Complexities of Casting

...

Most handlers jump to correction when a dog doesn’t take a cast...
But the truth is, your dog isn’t necessarily disobedient - they may be confused or overwhelmed.

In this 3-part webinar series, Kevin Cheff explores how the information we give our dogs—and the training choices we make—can contribute to common casting issues like digging back, scalloping, ping-ponging, and poor momentum.

Meet Kevin Cheff . . .

Over the past 30 years, I’ve trained and handled some incredible retrievers, including 6 Canadian National Champions, multiple U.S. and Canadian National Finalists, and dozens of field champions with hundreds of all-age points.

But in 2015, I made a shift.

I stepped away from training dogs full-time and leaned into what had become my greatest passion: coaching people and helping them understand how to train their own dogs.

I love helping passionate amateurs learn the art and science of retriever training—guiding them through the tough stuff, building their confidence, and watching their dogs thrive.

Because there’s nothing more rewarding than standing beside a dog you’ve trained yourself—knowing every step, every lesson, every challenge got you there.
